Why I Am Still Here
How is it possible to be a wife, mother, business owner and photographer all at once?
It's not. It is not possible. At all. (WHAT?)
Life is hard. Being a mom is hard. Being a business owner is hard. Every day holds a new challenge, a new hurdle to jump over (yes baby gates literally count as hurdles!), a new dream to consider turning into a reality. I may post everything amazing, hilarious and beautiful that happens in our lives, but behind all of that there are hours of up-until-2 am-even-though-the-kids-were-asleep-at-10. There are days I stare at my work and think, "What if nobody books us next year? Why did I take that picture like that? WHAT AM I DOING?!"
Why am I telling you this?
Because in May 2010 I had my life figured out. I was going to be a hall director for a few years, get my Master's Degree and become the head of a campus Residence Life program in no time. May, June, July came and went. No jobs. None. A few "second places" but unfortunately you don't get ribbons for second in the real world. So I started taking pictures, waiting for jobs to come the next year. They didn't. So I kept taking pictures. Soon I realized this could be something. Photography could be the job I had be waiting for. God's plan is always better than my own. If you are struggling to find that dream job, maybe it is right there in your grasp. Literally.
Find your passion. Life is too short to wait around. Do something TODAY. Change your dream TODAY. Be bold. Be crazy. Be entertaining.
Whatever it is you choose to be, be that. With all your heart.
